Cleveland 13 (WCTU) Corrections & Updates Policy

Our Commitment

At Cleveland 13 News, accuracy is the foundation of trust. When we publish, we do so with the confidence that our reporting is factually correct. If we discover an error (whether factual, contextual, or typographical) we take immediate action to correct it and communicate those changes clearly to our audience.

When We Issue a Correction

We will correct:

Factual errors in names, dates, numbers, or direct quotes.
Incorrect or incomplete context that may mislead readers.
Omissions that materially change the understanding of a story.

We will not “quietly” fix errors. Any substantive change to a published story is clearly noted.

Correction Format

Corrections are placed:

At the top of a story if the error is central to the headline or lead.
At the bottom of a story for less prominent factual errors or clarifications.
Each correction includes:

The date and time it was made.
A description of what was changed.
The reason for the correction or clarification.

Updates to Stories

Some stories develop over time. When new, relevant facts emerge:

We update the story to include the new information.
We add an “Updated” timestamp near the headline.
We explain the nature of the update in an editor’s note if it materially changes the original content.

How to Request a Correction

If you believe we’ve published incorrect information:

- The headline and URL of the story.
- The specific information you believe is incorrect.
- Supporting evidence or documentation.
Our editorial team will review and respond within 48 hours.
If a correction is warranted, it will be made promptly and noted in the story.
