Jean Cohen - age 92, born April 4, 1931, passed away January 9, 2024. Jean Steinbruecker Cohen, dedicated wife, mother, and healthcare professional, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2024 at age 92 with family members by her side. She was born on April 4, 1931 in Sheboygan, WI. After graduating high school, she left the security of her small town to study nursing at the Mount Sinai School of Nursing in Chicago IL. It was there she met her beloved future husband of 60 years, Sanford Cohen, who was attending medical school. After raising their family, she returned to school, completing her undergraduate degree at Boston University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude and her Masters of Social Work from Simmons College. After graduation she joined the Thom Clinic in Boston, MA and built an active family counseling practice.
She loved entertaining, polka dancing, country music, playing cards, ice cream, and hot dogs. Her sly sense of humor and infectious laugh will be missed by all that knew her.
She is predeceased by her husband Sandy and survived by her four children Jeffrey (Sally Farwell), Debra (Randolph McLaughlin), John (Lisa David), and Robert (Leslie Pennington); ten grandchildren Jennifer, Joshua, Zachary, Sara, Charles, Nina, Nicholas, Michael, Alexander, and Aidan; and two great-grandchildren Jordan and Juliana.
