They got married in Earl's senior year of college. Upon graduation from high school both Earl and Connie attended Bowling Green State University where Earl earned his Bachelor of Business degree. He continued his education at Case Western Reserve University where he earned a master's degree in sales and marketing. After years of work at The Glidden Company he was awarded an honorary PHD from Harvard University. During this time Earl and Connie lived in northeast Ohio while they raised their children.

Earl and Connie moved to Kentucky for their retirement years and have enjoyed being closer to Greg and his children. Earl and Connie were members of Southeast Christian Church. He is survived by his brother, Charles Wearsch; his children, Gregory Wearsch and Cheryl Yetka (Stephen); his grandchildren, Joshua Hanna, Jarod Hanna, Jolie Hanna, Stephen Wearsch and Megan Wearsch; and his first great-granddaughter, Brinley Konicek.
