Boricua Block Party to Celebrate Puerto Rican Culture in Clark-Fulton This Weekend

CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Clark-Fulton neighborhood is set to host the inaugural Boricua Block Party, a daylong celebration of Puerto Rican culture, on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026. The event, organized by the community group Cleveland Boricua, will take place from noon to 8 p.m. at Clark Field, 2820 Quigley Road. It aims to provide a vibrant platform for the city's Puerto Rican community, featuring live music, traditional food and local businesses. A full day of entertainment is planned, including performances of salsa, bomba and plena, along with sets from DJ Bray, DJ Mike and DJ Gattita. The family-friendly celebration also will include dance performances, a marketplace for local vendors and numerous food trucks. According to event organizers, at least 19 vendors and partners are confirmed to participate. The block party was founded by the husband-and-wife team Khristian and Jennifer Santana through a grassroots organizing effort. "As a husband-and-wife team, we started this with a vision to create something our families, our youth, our local businesses, and our entire Cleveland community could feel proud to call their own," the Santanas said in a prepared statement. "The Cleveland Boricua Block Party is bigger than just one day; it represents what can happen when people come together with pride, purpose and love for their community." To secure the venue and permits, the organizers launched a community outreach campaign that included a Change.org petition, which they said gathered about 680 signatures. The Santanas stated they hope the event fosters connection and community impact beyond a single day. "This event is about celebrating Puerto Rican culture while opening the doors to everyone," their statement continued. "We want people to leave Clark Field feeling more connected to their neighbors, their culture and their city."
