Celebrity Models, Vintage Glamour and Historic Auctions to Land at Burke Lakefront

CLEVELAND, Ohio — International Women’s Air & Space Museum will host a new vintage stewardess and aviation fashion showcase Aug. 22 at Burke Lakefront Airport during its Corks On The Concourse event, officials announced. The museum will offer wine tasting, raffles, silent auctions and a runway show of archival stewardess uniforms followed by a photo opportunity with models wearing the period attire.

“We are embarking on a new phase of focus and working towards a fresh approach to the subject. The museum seeks to initiate and incorporate insightful community programming, offering fun educational tours and hands‑on crafts and projects, and building innovative outreach and awareness programs,” Executive Director Chrystal Roinson said. The vintage fashion showcase is presented in association with Haute Ohio Magazine and DMSM and includes official uniforms from decades past.

Attendees will have the chance to bid on runway pieces, including two vintage‑inspired looks and an authentic Amelia Earhart train bag.

The fashion event highlights the museum’s centerpiece artifact, the Katherine Wright Dress. The proceeds from auctions and raffles will fund conservation of the original dress, which is now under restoration by ICA-Art Conservation. A replica of the dress is currently on display at the museum.

The International Women’s Air & Space Museum, located inside Burke Lakefront Airport, celebrates the pioneering role of women in aviation, from early business leadership by Katherine Wright, who managed logistics for the Wright brothers, to modern‑day flight attendants and pilots.
