CLEVELAND, OH — Karen Moss-Hale, longtime podcast host and producer behind NewClevelandRadio, has joined Cleveland 13 News as an affiliate contributor. Known for her work highlighting personal stories and lifestyle transitions, she brings with her a portfolio of podcast series focused on empathy, resilience, and community voices. Her arrival at Cleveland 13 coincides with a deeply personal chapter in her life that has reinforced the very themes she explores in her work.
“Six months and two days ago, I took an unexpected fall in my home that fractured both my right arm and shoulder,” Moss-Hale shared on Facebook, reflecting on the Christmas Eve incident that led to an extended recovery journey. “Healing isn’t just about the fracture—it’s the tendons, the muscles, the tissue, the spirit.” Despite the physical toll and ongoing occupational therapy, she emphasized the importance of emotional recovery and adapting to change. “I may move a bit slower in the morning, but I’m still showing up: to work, to friendships, and to life.”

Moss-Hale’s transition into her new role at Cleveland 13 is part of a broader return to form following months of medical setbacks. In addition to orthopedic rehabilitation, she recently underwent changes to her gastrointestinal and cardiac health regimens. After her GI specialist adjusted her supplements, she experienced significant improvements for the first time in five years. A cardiologist-recommended switch to weekly Wegovy injections also led to a 25-pound weight loss since March, aiding her heart health.
Her ability to turn personal adversity into public insight is a hallmark of her podcasting style. Moss-Hale has produced and hosted shows such as Heart Mojo with Melinda Smith, which ran for 77 episodes starting in 2019, and Avoid the Maze, where guests explore life’s challenges with a focus on growth. Testimonials from podcast guests include remarks like, “Amazing host… passion for life and helping others shines through,” and “Karen’s passion for life and helping others shines through.”
She also co-hosted Not Counting Tomorrow with her husband Richard Hale, beginning in early 2023 around their 39th wedding anniversary. That show delved into marriage, illness, and personal resilience, including Richard’s prostate cancer journey. In 2020, she appeared on Love Letters Live with Janet Gallin, offering moving reflections on her parents and her identity as a mother.
Her arrival at Cleveland 13 News marks not only a professional milestone but a continuation of her community-centered mission. “One of the most uplifting outcomes of this recent chapter in my life has been forming meaningful connections—particularly with the incredible team at Cleveland 13 News,” she wrote. “Just yesterday, I recorded my first contribution for the network, featuring a heartfelt conversation with Denise Zarrella.”
That conversation is featured in the premiere episode of her new podcast series, Welcome to Your Purpose, Your Power: A Journey to Authenticity. In this collaboration between NewClevelandRadio and Cleveland 13 News, Moss-Hale hosts candid conversations with individuals living purposeful, empowered lives. The debut episode includes an interview with Zarrella, a former Cleveland 19 News reporter and current Cleveland 13 News contributor, who shares her experiences as a parent of a child with special needs.
Moss-Hale is currently preparing to continue expanding the podcast series. Her storytelling skills, experience in coaching and conversation, and the #YESICAN initiative she champions all align with Cleveland 13’s commitment to amplifying local voices and fostering resilience.
