HUDSON, OHIO — Ryan Rosinski is a professional dancer and choreographer who gained national attention on the television series "So You Think You Can Dance," but his current focus is building a large community of performers in Northeast Ohio. Based in Hudson, Rosinski directs two distinct groups that cater to residents from across the state. One group is the Adult Hip Hop Dance Team, a 75-member ensemble for those 18 and older. The other is the Senior Squad Dance Team, which Rosinski believes is one of the largest groups of its kind in the nation for adults over 50. Rosinski, an award-winning choreographer who teaches dance throughout the region, designed both programs to be inclusive regardless of a persons previous experience. The Adult Hip Hop Dance Team includes a mix of professional dancers and people who have never set foot on a stage before joining. They have appeared on "New Day Cleveland" and performed at major local venues such as Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, Public Hall and the Wolstein Center. According to Rosinski, the group has grown into a diverse community where the shared goal is simply to learn and perform. The Senior Squad follows a similar philosophy of accessibility but with specific modifications for older adults. With roughly 50 members, the team is open to anyone over 50, including those with physical or movement limitations. Rosinski adapts the choreography to suit various skill levels and ensures that every member remains safe while staying active. Last year, their story caught the attention of local news outlets when they showcased that dance is not reserved for the young. Rosinski said teaching these teams has been an amazing experience because he watches people make new friends and succeed in ways they did not think were possible. He believes dance offers significant benefits for the mind and body while providing a boost to personal happiness. The rehearsals in Hudson have become a hub for people looking to step into the spotlight, whether they are 19 or 70. Rosinski noted that he is proud to share his performance knowledge with people in his home state of Ohio. The teams are currently open to new members, and no prior dance experience is required to participate in either group.
