Parma City School District Superintendent Dr. Scott J. Hunt informed families that while many of the videos and images are clearly fabricated, the district is taking the matter seriously to ensure student safety. The trend involves a mix of artificial intelligence and edited media that sometimes targets specific schools or student groups. According to the letter sent by Hunt, some individuals have used the trend to create posts that appear threatening, leading to investigations by law enforcement in certain cases. At this time, the district has found no credible evidence that any Parma schools or staff members are in danger. It is becoming increasingly difficult for some families to distinguish between reality and AI-generated content. District leaders are encouraging parents to talk to their children about what they see online, reminding them that digital content is not always what it seems. If a student sees a post referencing a specific school, the district said the student should not share it or engage with the creator. Instead, the district recommends taking a screenshot and reporting the image directly to school administrators or police. Safety remains the top priority for the district, which serves about 9,000 students across the communities of Parma, Parma Heights and Seven Hills. Officials have not hesitated to involve law enforcement when posts cross the line from social media trends to potential safety concerns.
