Cedar Point Offers Free Admission to Guests Named Fry During Fries Fest

Published: Sep 3, 2026 - 12:18 p.m.

SANDUSKY, Ohio — Cedar Point is celebrating one of its most iconic snacks with the return of Happy Friar's Fresh-Cut Fries Fest, and some guests will be able to get in for free. The four-day food festival, scheduled for Sept. 10-13, 2026, will feature limited-time menu items, mascot appearances and a special admission offer for anyone whose last name is Fry or a similar variation. Guests with eligible last names, such as Fry, Fri, Fries, Fryer, Friar, Fried or Friedman, can receive free single-day admission to the park during the festival. To claim the offer, individuals must present a valid government-issued photo ID at any Cedar Point entrance gate. During the event, the park will serve exclusive loaded fry creations at two locations. Near the Gemini roller coaster, the Happy Friar stand will offer Barbacoa Fries, featuring smoked beef, pickled red onions and queso, as well as Poutine Fries with cheese curds and beef gravy. At the Hot Potato stand near the Raptor roller coaster, visitors can try Brisket Burnt End Fries with a bourbon glaze and Mike's Hot Honey Fries, which include fried cheese curds, jalapeños and a cayenne ranch drizzle. The festival also provides an opportunity for guests to meet and take photos with the Happy Friar mascot. The park's fresh-cut fries have been a signature menu item since 1942. Coinciding with the food festival is the HalloWeekends Scream Peek Weekend, an early look at the park's annual Halloween event. The preview will grant access to four indoor haunted mazes: Midnight, Fearground Freak Show, The Haunting of Eerie Estate and Slaughter House. According to park officials, all new and current Cedar Point season passholders will receive a complimentary single-day Haunted Attractions Pass valid for the four mazes during the preview weekend. The park also noted that 2027 season passes are currently available at their lowest price until Sept. 7, 2026. -------------------- At Cleveland 13 News, we strive to provide accurate, up-to-date, and reliable reporting.
