SANDUSKY, Ohio — Cedar Point will commemorate America's 250th birthday with a week-long patriotic event this summer. The park announced its Star-Spangled Celebration, presented by M&M'S, will run from June 29 through July 4, featuring special entertainment, aerial displays and themed activities. Throughout the celebration week, guests can participate in daily events, including a Stars, Stripes and Styles Costume Contest, a Flavors of Freedom Pie-Eating Contest and Stars & Hypes Midway Games. The park is encouraging visitors to wear red, white and blue to mark the occasion. The event kicks off on Monday, June 29, with a special tribute called the "Flight of the Flags." Between 9 and 10 a.m., historic World War II aircraft flown by the Lake Erie Warbirds will fly over the park carrying American flags that belonged to service members killed in action. On Independence Day, Saturday, July 4, skydivers from Deploy Events will perform aerial maneuvers before landing on the beach. The skydiving demonstrations are scheduled for 9 a.m., 1 p.m. and 8 p.m. Live entertainment is scheduled daily, beginning each morning at 9 a.m. with a vocal performance of "The Star-Spangled Banner" near the Main Gate. On Wednesday, July 1, the 122nd Army Band of the Ohio Army National Guard will perform on the Main Midway Stage at 2, 3:30 and 5:30 p.m. The Cleveland Cavaliers Entertainment Team, including the 216Stix Drumline and the voice of the Cavs Ahmaad Crump, will perform on Friday, July 3, at 2:45 and 4:45 p.m., with additional pop-up performances planned. Cedar Point's culinary team will offer more than 10 specialty food and drink items during the event. New menu items include a Firecracker Dog, a Cleveland Po' Boy Dog, an All-American Funnel Cake and a Firework 250 Crazy Shake topped with an Original Bomb Pop. The celebration will conclude on July 4 with the Light Up The Point fireworks display over the Cedar Point Beach at 10 p.m. A VIP Viewing Experience with reserved seating and snacks will be available for purchase. Cedar Point also provides discounted admission for active military members and first responders throughout the season. Additionally, a dedicated VIP parking area near the Main Gate is reserved for veterans. The Star-Spangled Celebration activities are included with regular park admission. Guests can use a 2026 Gold Pass for entry during the event. -------------------- At Cleveland 13 News, we strive to provide accurate, up-to-date, and reliable reporting.
