Little Caesars Love Kitchen to Serve Free Pizza at East Cleveland Salvation Army

Published: May 12, 2026 - 6:03 p.m.

EAST CLEVELAND, OH — The Salvation Army's East Cleveland Corps is preparing to host a mobile restaurant this week to provide hot meals to residents in the surrounding neighborhood. On Thursday, May 14, the Little Caesars Love Kitchen will pull into the parking lot at 1507 Doan Ave. to distribute free pizza to the community. The event starts at 12:30 p.m. and will operate on a first-come, first-served basis until about 300 slices are served. Captains Travis and Zuheil Barton, who serve as the commanding corps officers for the East Cleveland location, organized the visit to supplement their existing hunger-relief programs. While the Love Kitchen is a traveling big-rig unit that visits various cities across the country, the local Salvation Army branch provides more permanent assistance. Their on-site facility, Cafe Armee, currently prepares and serves between 175 and 200 hot meals three days a week. It is part of a broader mission to support a city where food insecurity remains a significant hurdle for many families. The East Cleveland Corps has been in operation for just under 10 years. During that time, it has become a hub for social services in an area where local resources can sometimes be scarce. According to the Salvation Army record, the partnership with the Love Kitchen is designed to offer a bit of relief and a sense of community to those who rely on the Doan Ave. center for their daily needs. Little Caesars first launched the Love Kitchen in 1985. Since its inception, the mobile kitchen has served millions of people, often responding to areas hit by disasters or significant economic hardship. The truck is fully self-contained and handles all the baking on-site to ensure the food is fresh when it reaches the hands of local residents. Residents with questions about the event, or those seeking information about other feeding programs at Cafe Armee, can contact the East Cleveland Corps directly at its main office. -------------------- At Cleveland 13 News, we strive to provide accurate, up-to-date, and reliable reporting.
