SANDUSKY, Ohio — The Shores & Islands Ohio tourism bureau has launched a series of free, themed digital tour trails designed to guide visitors to family-friendly attractions and local businesses throughout the region. The guides, which can be downloaded to a smartphone, function as a digital passport. Visitors can check in at participating locations to earn points that can be redeemed for prizes, encouraging exploration of the area's diverse offerings. Several themed trails cater to various interests. The ArtVenture Trail guides users to local murals and sculptures, while the Sweet Treat Trail features confectioneries such as Toft's Dairy and Wake Up and Waffle. Other available guides include history-focused tours, a Cheers Trail for adults, and a Savings Trail that provides discounts at area businesses. Beyond the digital trails, the region offers numerous attractions for extended vacations. While Cedar Point is renowned for its roller coasters, the park also includes three dedicated kids' areas and hosts seasonal events like Boardwalk Nights and the Barrel and Bites festival. For different kinds of family entertainment, the African Safari Wildlife Park features both drive-thru and walk-thru sections where guests can feed and interact with animals. Ghostly Manor Thrill Center provides year-round indoor activities, including a haunted house, a 4D movie theater, a skating rink, and its newest attraction, the Nexus Gel Blaster arena, which combines elements of paintball and laser tag. Other local destinations include Goofy Golf, which has two 18-hole miniature golf courses and three go-kart tracks, one of which is designed for younger children. Dining options highlighted in the area include the Sandusky Bay Pancake House and other local eateries. To accommodate visitors for multi-day stays, a variety of lodging is available, including Saw Mill Creek, Sol Stay, and The Wave at Marblehead. -------------------- At Cleveland 13 News, we strive to provide accurate, up-to-date, and reliable reporting.
