CLEVELAND, OHIO — The 2024 Tony Award-winning Best Musical, "The Outsiders," will come to Cleveland's Playhouse Square as part of the KeyBank Broadway Series. The production is scheduled to run at the Connor Palace from April 28 to May 17, 2026. Based on the classic novel, the musical is set in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1967. The story follows Ponyboy Curtis, his friend Johnny Cade, and their chosen family of "Greasers" as they navigate conflicts with their wealthy rivals, the Socs. The production explores themes of self-discovery, friendship and belonging in a world that often refuses to accept them. The show, which opened on Broadway on April 11, 2024, has been met with critical acclaim and sold-out audiences. The New York Times described the musical as "electrifying" and "astonishing," while the New York Post called it the "best new musical of the season." "The Outsiders" won four Tony Awards in 2024. Its creative team includes a book by Adam Rapp and Justin Levine, with music and lyrics by the duo Jamestown Revival (Jonathan Clay and Zach Chance) and Justin Levine. The production is directed by Tony Award winner Danya Taymor, with choreography by Rick and Jeff Kuperman. Performances are scheduled for Tuesdays through Fridays at 7:30 p.m., Saturdays at 1:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., and Sundays at 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at playhousesquare.org or by calling 216-241-6000.
