Giant Eagle and GetGo to Offer 50 Cents off per Gallon of Gas This Weekend

Published: May 12, 2026 - 7:39 p.m.

CLEVELAND, OH — Local drivers facing gas prices near the $6 mark may find some relief this weekend as Giant Eagle and GetGo launch a significant rewards promotion. The grocery giant is rolling out a myPerks multiplier that lets shoppers earn 50 cents off per gallon for every $100 they spend at the supermarket. This event is limited to Saturday, May 16, and Sunday, May 17, and covers all Giant Eagle and Market District locations across Ohio and its neighboring states. To get the discount, shoppers must activate the offer first. This can be done through the Giant Eagle website or its mobile app starting Saturday morning. According to Giant Eagle representatives, there is no cap on how many perks a household can earn during that single transaction. If a family spends $200 on its weekly groceries, it will see a $1 discount per gallon. A $400 bill would translate to $2 off at the pump, which could effectively cover the cost of an entire tank of fuel. The rewards do not expire immediately after the weekend ends. They stay valid for 12 months, which makes them particularly useful for families planning upcoming summer travel. While the perks are typically associated with the pump, shoppers also can choose to redeem their earned rewards as a discount on future grocery trips instead of fuel. The company confirmed the offer applies to both in-person shopping and online orders placed for curbside pickup or home delivery services. There is a limit of one redemption per household for this specific multiplier event. It is a strategic move for the Pittsburgh-based retailer, which has grown to operate more than 200 grocery stores and 270 GetGo convenience locations since its founding in 1931. Perks rewards will be available for use immediately after the qualifying transaction is finished. Shoppers can track their current rewards balance through the myPerks loyalty program on their printed receipt or via the store's digital app. -------------------- At Cleveland 13 News, we strive to provide accurate, up-to-date, and reliable reporting.
