CLEVELAND, Ohio — Several Cleveland-area charter schools are being recognized for outstanding academic progress in the 2024–2025 Ohio Department of Education report card released on September 15. Cleveland Arts and Social Sciences Academy (CASSA) emerged as one of the top performers, earning a Performance Index score of 92.8, ranking seventh among all charter schools in Ohio and second in Cuyahoga County. The school also received a 5-star Progress rating for the third consecutive year.
“Cleveland Arts and Social Sciences Academy's remarkable performance on the Ohio State Report Card, including our 5-star rating in Progress and being named the #2 charter school in Cuyahoga County, is a direct result of the dedication of our students, whom we proudly call Cougars,” said Principal Jesse Williams.
Ohio College Preparatory School also achieved high marks, with a Performance Index of 85.6, placing it in the top 5% of all charter schools in the state. The school saw a 61% increase in its PI over the past two years and improved its Progress rating from two to five stars since 2023. “Our State Report Card results reflect phenomenal growth across multiple areas,” said Principal Nova O’Callaghan, noting a 4.5-star Overall Achievement rating and a top ranking across multiple local communities.
Constellation Schools: Westpark Community earned recognition for sustained excellence. Westpark Community Elementary was ranked the #7 charter school in Cuyahoga County and placed in the top 15% statewide, while the middle school ranked in the top 25% of Ohio charters. “These results demonstrate the impact of our focus on small group instruction, building strong relationships, and using data to drive growth,” said Executive Principal Deborah Rotolo.
Broadway Academy at Mount Pleasant and Broadway Academy at Willow both earned a 5-star Progress rating for the third year in a row and increased their combined Performance Index by more than 25% year-over-year. “These results reflect the dedication, hard work, and commitment of our teachers and staff,” said Regional Vice President Donna L. Baynes. “Their belief in the potential of each student has created a culture of excellence across both campuses.”
STEAM Academy of Warrensville Heights recorded a PI score of 74, a more than 10% improvement from the previous year. The school also received 5-star ratings in both Progress and Gap Closing, placing it in the top 20% of Ohio charter schools. “This achievement highlights the dedication of our students, staff, and families working together for success,” said Principal Willie Banks III.
Lincoln Park Preparatory Academy also earned a 5-star rating in Progress, marking a two-star improvement over the previous year. Banks, who also leads this school, emphasized the importance of data-driven instruction and community support in achieving these results.
