Cleveland Crowds Blown Away as Alicia Keys' Hell's Kitchen Kicks Off National Tour

CLEVELAND, Ohio — The musical Hell’s Kitchen, created and inspired by 17‑time Grammy Award winner Alicia Keys, opens its multi‑year North American tour in Cleveland at Playhouse Square from Oct. 10 to Nov. 1, 2025.

Keys said, “It feels so good to know that it’s going to go across the country and this cast … is out of control. They’re so good. … Obviously, everybody can’t get to New York City.”

The story follows Ali, a 17‑year‑old girl “full of fire,” navigating teenage life, family relationships and a yearning for purpose in the neighborhood of Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan. The show blends Keys’ greatest hits with new songs written exclusively for the stage.

The Cleveland engagement marks the first stop of what the producers say will be a 30‑plus‑city tour.

The production description emphasizes that “the music, a mix of Keys’ classics and new songs written exclusively for the show, and exhilarating choreography bring to life a story that speaks to you no matter where you’re from, where you’ve been, or where you’re going.”

Reviews from the Broadway version have praised the show’s riveting performances and the way the musical re‑interprets familiar songs. “If this show doesn’t bullet to Broadway, we should all give up,” wrote The Guardian.

Local theatre officials in Cleveland welcomed the selection of their city for the tour launch. “Cleveland’s enthusiastic and diverse Broadway audiences will certainly give the show a rapturous welcome,” said Craig Hassall, president & chief executive of Playhouse Square.

Tickets are now on sale for the Cleveland engagement, with further cities such as Pittsburgh, Chicago, Detroit and Cincinnati already scheduled on the tour calendar.

One theatre‑goer from Cleveland said, “I loved this show and highly recommend you checking it out before it leaves town.”
