Giant Eagle Recalls Roasted Turkey Products Due to Potential Metal Fragments

PITTSBURGH, PA — Giant Eagle Inc. is pulling several roasted turkey products from its prepared food shelves after the discovery of metal fragments. The voluntary recall affects stores across five states: Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia and Indiana. The items originated from Fresh Foods Manufacturing in Freedom, Pennsylvania. According to a statement from Giant Eagle, the issue came to light during a routine inspection of the facility. There have been no reports of injuries or illnesses linked to the turkey so far, but the company is urging shoppers to be cautious. Sales of the affected items began April 28, 2026. The list of recalled goods includes oven-roasted turkey breast, turkey entrees with gravy, roasted turkey meals and turkey pot pies. The products carry "Best By" dates ranging from May 10 through May 12, 2026. The specific UPC codes involved include 28684900000, 25689600000, 25689700000, 25688200000, 20696900000 and 25691700000. Anyone who bought these items should not eat them. Customers can throw the turkey away and bring their receipt to any Giant Eagle or Market District location for a full refund. The company also started using its myPerks loyalty card database to call households that purchased the turkey, provided they have a current phone number on file.
