One Tank of Gas Fuels a Full Family Adventure in Columbus with Jayda's Adventures

COLUMBUS, OH — Columbus offers an exciting and educational destination for families, and Jayda’s Adventures has unveiled a curated one-tank trip itinerary perfect for an overnight getaway. From historical discoveries to hands-on learning and sweet treats, this itinerary is packed with family-friendly stops and memorable experiences.

“Our family getaways are about more than just seeing new places—they’re about learning, laughing, and making memories together,” said Jayda, the creator of Jayda’s Adventures.

The first stop on the journey is the Ohio History Center, located at 800 E. 17th Ave., Columbus. This museum, which serves as the headquarters of the Ohio History Connection, features exhibits spanning Ohio’s past from the Ice Age through the 1950s. Topics include the Civil War, World War I, and natural history, as well as interactive exhibits for children.

Lunch is served at Old Bag of Nails, an Irish pub that began in 1966 after a hardware store was transformed into a neighborhood gathering spot. The restaurant is known for its family-friendly menu, affordable prices, and welcoming atmosphere that caters even to the pickiest eaters.

Afternoon exploration continues at COSI, located at 333 W. Broad St., Columbus. COSI features more than 300 interactive exhibits, Ohio’s largest planetarium, a giant screen theater, and live science shows, making it an educational hotspot that doubles as entertainment for all ages.

Families then check in at the Drury Hotel, where amenities like complimentary breakfast, dinner, and an indoor/outdoor pool make it a convenient and budget-conscious option. Each evening, guests can enjoy a 5:30 p.m. “kickback” buffet dinner including rotating hot meals, a salad bar, nachos, and drinks. Adults are offered up to three complimentary alcoholic beverages.

To wrap up the day, a stop at Graeter’s Ice Cream at 2136 Bethel Road offers a sweet finale. Kids can enjoy the indoor play space while families unwind with handcrafted ice cream before returning to the hotel.

The next morning includes a leisurely breakfast at the hotel followed by a visit to the quirky roadside Cornhenge sculpture. Located in Dublin, Ohio, this free attraction features 109 life-sized concrete ears of corn arranged in neat rows, a spot that never fails to amuse children.

The adventure continues with lunch at Budd Dairy Food Hall, 1086 N. 4th St., a venue featuring 10 different kitchen options, three bars, and a rooftop space. With a cafeteria-style layout and communal seating, it offers a diverse dining experience ideal for families eager to try various cuisines.

The final stop is Olentangy Caverns, where an all-access pass allows visitors to explore underground caves, walk the Bigfoot trail, complete a treasure maze, feed animals, and mine for gems. The caverns are a blend of natural wonder and interactive fun, making them a highlight of the itinerary.
