CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio — The Cleveland Heights Police Department responded to a grim discovery this week when a body was found hanging from a tree near the intersection of Lee Road and Hyde Park Avenue, directly across from Cain Park.

The deceased, recently identified as Heights native Larry Williams, appears to have died by suicide according to preliminary investigations. “While the Medical Examiner will need to determine the cause of death, CHPD's preliminary investigation indicates...a result of suicide, not foul play", according to a post from Cleveland Heights official Facebook page.

Detectives were dispatched to the scene, and a thorough investigation is underway.

Residents and neighbors express their shock and sadness over the event, emphasizing the importance of mental health awareness in many local online forums.

Additional details will be released as they become available, authorities said.

If the family thinks this is suspicious and that he would not behave this way in life . That they do not think he did this to himself a full investigation should have been done. Period. I'm white in a biracial family and even I know that my none of my black people would hang themselves!

Murder, plain and simple. You've seen the size of those trees in the park, right? Two whole days and no missing persons report? Please. Black folks don't do suicide by hanging. If someone's in that much pain, they wouldn't add traumatizing their family to the mix. And let's talk stats. Nationally, hanging is a super low percentage of suicides, but somehow 7 Black men in Ohio have managed to commit suicide by hanging since 2016. Four this year. What a crazy coincidence. So, no, we're not ignorant, and we're definitely not stupid. Something fishy is going on here.
