Shore Cultural Centre Secures $19,327 Grant for Historic Restroom Renovations

EUCLID, OHIO — The Shore Cultural Centre is preparing for a new round of renovations after securing a $19,327 grant from the Ohio History Fund to upgrade its aging infrastructure. This project targets the modernization of two restrooms near the building's historic auditorium, which serves as a primary gathering space for thousands of residents and visitors throughout the year. It is a significant win for the city because the grant program is notoriously competitive. Out of 68 applications submitted from across the state this year, Shore's proposal was one of only 15 selected for funding. The Ohio History Fund distributed a total of $194,657 during this cycle, meaning Euclid's landmark facility secured nearly 10% of the available state resources. According to the Ohio History Connection, the organization that oversees the fund, the grants are designed to support projects that protect and promote the state's historical assets. Constructed in 1913, the Shore Cultural Centre at 291 E. 222nd St. has spent decades evolving from a local schoolhouse into a vital community asset. Today, it functions as a small business incubator and provides space for more than 35 organizations and entrepreneurs. Maintaining a structure of this age requires constant investment, and city officials have prioritized these restroom upgrades to ensure the auditorium remains accessible and welcoming for modern crowds. The official announcement took place last week at the Statehouse in Columbus, where representatives gathered to celebrate the preservation efforts of various Ohio municipalities. These funds directly support Euclid's ongoing strategy to maintain its historic infrastructure while fostering a local economy built around culture and education. Community members who want to learn more about the project or explore the historic building can attend a public open house in late March. The city plans to offer guided tours of the facility to showcase both its historical significance and the areas slated for improvement. -------------------- At Cleveland 13 News, we strive to provide accurate, up-to-date, and reliable reporting.
