(WCTU) — From a massive pop culture convention arriving downtown to a rare calendar quirk and a sweet new bakery in South Euclid, these are the stories that got people clicking this week.
FAN EXPO Cleveland Returns With Major Celebrity Guests
Thousands of pop culture fans will soon fill downtown Cleveland as FAN EXPO Cleveland returns to the Huntington Convention Center from March 13 through March 15. The annual convention is expected to bring a huge lineup of celebrity guests and fans of film, television, comics and gaming to the city. Headlining this year’s event are Star Wars actor Hayden Christensen, Academy Award winner Brendan Fraser, and legendary Star Trek captain William Shatner. Other scheduled guests include Helen Hunt, Temuera Morrison, Bonnie Wright, Dean Norris and James Marsters. Several fan-favorite cast reunions are also planned. Stars from The Mummy franchise; including Fraser, Oded Fehr, John Hannah and Patricia Velasquez, will appear together, while actors from The Twilight Saga are also scheduled for a reunion panel.
The event features celebrity panels, autograph sessions, photo opportunities, cosplay events and a massive vendor floor filled with collectibles and comic book creators. See the full story here.
2026 Brings a Rare Triple Friday the 13th
Superstitious or not, 2026 is an unusual year on the calendar.
This year contains three Friday the 13ths (February 13, March 13 and November 13) which is the maximum possible number in a single year. Even more unusual, February and March’s Friday the 13ths happen back-to-back. That one-month gap is the shortest possible interval between the infamous date and occurs only when specific calendar conditions align in a non-leap year. The previous year with three Friday the 13ths was 2015, and the next time the pattern will appear again will be 2037. See the full story here.
New Vegan Bakery Opens in South Euclid
A new dessert destination has arrived in South Euclid. Cinnaholic, the plant-based bakery brand known for its appearance on Shark Tank, has opened a new location at Cedar Center North on Cedar Road. Unlike traditional bakeries, the shop’s menu is completely vegan, meaning its cinnamon rolls, brownies, cookies and edible cookie dough are made without dairy, eggs or other animal products. To celebrate the grand opening, the store offered customers a limited-time promotion allowing them to purchase any cinnamon roll for just $2 during a four-hour opening event. The location joins several other Ohio franchises as the brand continues expanding across the region. See the full story here.
