(WCTU) — From a violent spring storm to a groundbreaking new entertainment venue, Cleveland’s newest young media star and a fresh take on dating, these are the stories that got people clicking this week.


COSM Breaks Ground in Downtown Cleveland

A long-empty lot in the Gateway District is getting a dramatic transformation. COSM Cleveland officially broke ground this week, bringing what will become the largest immersive dome in the nation to downtown Cleveland. The 64,000-square-foot venue will feature a nearly 100-foot LED dome designed for shared reality experiences, including sports, concerts, films and art. Leaders say the project could attract roughly 750,000 visitors a year and create hundreds of jobs. Construction is underway now, with an opening targeted for July 2027. See the full story here.


Cleveland Startup Reinvents Dating Night

Forget swiping. Cleveland startup Date Unscripted is betting singles want real-life chemistry again. The live dating game show returns April 25 at the Great Lakes Brewing Company Tasting Room with its “Dirty Thirties” edition, focused on singles in their 30s. Contestants meet and talk while separated by a curtain, forcing conversation before appearance.

Giant Hail Storm Smashes Northeast Ohio

A powerful storm system tore across Northeast Ohio this week, bringing giant hail, damaging winds, flooding and widespread outages. Some hailstones reached tennis-ball size, denting cars, breaking windows and damaging roofs. Streets flooded in parts of the region, while thousands lost power overnight. Cleveland 13 News officially welcomed 6-year-old Karmella “Karmi” Brown as its newest affiliate this week. Brown is believed to be the world’s youngest accredited reporter and will focus on family fun, kid-friendly destinations and local adventures throughout Northeast Ohio.
