$5,000 Reward Offered After ATM Technician Robbed at Gunpoint in South Euclid
SOUTH EUCLID, OHIO — Authorities in South Euclid are seeking public assistance in identifying two suspects involved in a robbery at gunpoint targeting an ATM technician. The incident occurred on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, around 11:58 a.m. at the Chase Bank located at 14133 Cedar Road.
According to a statement from the South Euclid Police Department, the technician was servicing the ATM when two suspects, both wearing masks, approached and robbed him. The suspects, described as young, thin males, appeared to be in their late teens or early twenties. They escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash.
The suspects fled the scene in a black Hyundai Sonata, believed to be a 2013 model. The vehicle had heavily tinted windows and distinct features, including a missing driver’s side front rim. Surveillance footage shows both suspects wearing masks that obscured all but their eyes. One suspect was observed without a glove on his left hand, revealing that he may be dark-skinned.
Detailed descriptions released by authorities identify the first suspect as wearing black jogging pants, a black hoodie, and gloves. His footwear was noted to be Nike Jordan 11 Retro Concord 2011 sneakers. This individual was armed with a handgun with an extended magazine. The second suspect was dressed in a black North Face jacket layered over a gray hoodie, navy blue Adidas track pants, and Timberland-style boots.
Following the incident, several residents expressed concerns about safety in South Euclid. On social media, some indicated they were considering moving out of the area, citing recent incidents as a factor. Comments referenced a perception of rising crime and a lack of police resources, with one resident stating that the area had changed significantly in recent years, feeling more dangerous than before. Others mentioned that events like this could be part of the reason banks are reevaluating their presence in certain neighborhoods. Additionally, some expressed frustration over local government spending, suggesting that federal funding could be better allocated to enhance police presence.
Despite these concerns, Crime Stoppers of Cuyahoga County is urging residents to come forward with any information that could help lead to the suspects' arrest. A $5,000 reward is being offered for details that result in an arrest and indictment.
