International Irish Dance Leaders Open Doors to Young Beginners in Parma

PARMA, Ohio — The Academy of Irish Dance, one of the most prestigious Irish dance schools in the world, will open its doors in Parma for a two-day “Try It Out” camp on Aug. 23–24, 2025. The event, hosted at Krazy Fit, 7870 Broadview Road, runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day and invites beginners ages 5 to 7 to explore the dynamic art of traditional Irish dance.

Known for producing elite performers, The Academy has helped launch the careers of multiple world champions, including Macaulay Selwood, the current lead in the international stage production Lord of the Dance. With instructors who have trained and competed in both the United Kingdom and Ireland, the school has developed a global reputation for technical precision and performance excellence.

Camp participants will be introduced to foundational steps, high-energy routines and the history and spirit of Irish dance. In addition to the physical skills, The Academy aims to instill values such as teamwork, respect and self-confidence. “We care so much about every single dancer in our class and strive to ensure that each child is made to feel special and important,” the school’s mission statement reads.

Spaces for the camp are limited, and organizers encourage early registration through Wellness Living (here). The program is designed for children with no prior dance experience, offering a supportive environment that emphasizes both fun and discipline.

The Academy’s reach in Northeast Ohio will expand this fall with a new beginner class in Shaker Heights. Beginning Sept. 8, 2025, classes will take place Mondays from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Cleveland City Dance in Shaker Square for children ages 6 to 10. Registration is available online, by phone or via email through Cleveland City Dance.

“Our much sought after teaching styles have produced many champions who have won multiple World Championship titles,” The Academy’s leadership said. “We want our dancers to experience and enjoy everything that comes from being a part of The Academy… and to shine like a star both on and off the stage.”
