Ohio's Second Youngest News Reporter Joins Cleveland 13 News in Historic Milestone
CLEVELAND - Northeast Ohio's fastest-growing community-driven news network, Cleveland 13 News, is once again making headlines by breaking new ground in the local journalism scene. Recently, the network welcomed 14-year-old Jayda to its team, making her the 2nd youngest news reporter ever to join a recognized network in Ohio. Her inclusion not only places her among the top 10 youngest reporters in U.S. history but also reinforces Cleveland 13’s commitment to amplifying fresh, diverse voices in the region.
Jayda, who hosts "Jayda's Adventures," brings a unique and engaging perspective to her role. Her show focuses on exploring family-friendly events and activities across Ohio, providing viewers with ideas for creating fun and memorable experiences. Whether she’s covering local sports, dining spots, regional attractions, or even out-of-state adventures, Jayda’s reports resonate with families looking to make the most of their time together. Describing her passion for sharing these experiences, Jayda says, “I want to be a blogger so I can share fun places you can go to make memories with your family. This will include everything from local sports, grabbing a dinner out, events, all over Ohio fun, and even some out-of-state adventures.”
Jayda’s excitement about her new role is clear. In a recent video message, she shared the news with her followers: "Hey guys, it's Jayda from Jayda's Adventures and I have really exciting news. I am going to be working with Cleveland 13 News. And if you don't know what Jayda's Adventures is, Jayda's Adventures is a blog that can show you places to go with your family to make new memories. Follow me and Cleveland 13 News to see all the new places you can go with your family and experience the fun with us."
Jayda’s path to becoming a reporter is particularly inspiring given the challenges she faces. Born with hemihypertrophy, a rare genetic condition that causes one side of her body to grow faster than the other, she sometimes relies on a power wheelchair due to the pain and discomfort associated with her condition. Despite these obstacles, Jayda has not let her disability define her. Instead, she uses her platform to pursue her love of photography, video creation, and new experiences, inspiring others with her determination and positive outlook. Beyond her current role, Jayda dreams of becoming a cancer doctor, a goal deeply rooted in her family’s experiences with the disease, which has claimed the lives of both her nanny and papa.
Jayda’s entry into journalism follows in the footsteps of other young trailblazers, like fellow Buckeye Jaden Jefferson, who at just 11 years old gained national recognition for his interviews with political figures during the 2019 election cycle. Jaden’s insightful interviews with high-profile figures, including Senator Elizabeth Warren, were picked up by major networks like CNN and MSNBC, making him one of the youngest reporters to be taken seriously by mainstream media outlets. Now, Jayda joins this elite group of young journalists, bringing her own unique voice and perspective to the industry.
Her addition to the Cleveland 13 News team comes at a time of significant growth for the network. Recently, Cleveland 13 launched the exclusive series "Hit The Town w/ Nikkie Brown," hosted by Mrs. Northern Ohio, Nikkie Brown. The show quickly became a hit with viewers, showcasing the best of what the region has to offer. Nikkie, a business owner and nonprofit leader, brings her passion and local expertise to the screen.
Cleveland 13’s decision to bring Jayda on board is just one example of the network’s dedication to nurturing young talent and providing a platform for voices that reflect the community’s vibrancy. The network’s excitement about Jayda’s future contributions is clear. “We are beyond thrilled to have Jayda joining the team of Reporters,” Cleveland 13 President Matt Greminger said. “We look forward to seeing her make her mark on the Cleveland news scene.”
As Cleveland 13 News continues to grow and evolve, viewers can expect more groundbreaking content from both seasoned professionals and emerging talents like Jayda.
