Browns Linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah to Miss 2025 Season Due to Neck Injury

CLEVELAND, OH — The Cleveland Browns have announced that linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah will miss the entire 2025 NFL season after being placed on the reserve/physically unable to perform (PUP) list due to a neck injury sustained in October 2024 during a game against the Baltimore Ravens. The injury occurred when Owusu-Koramoah collided with Ravens running back Derrick Henry, leading to his hospitalization. Although he was released the following day with movement in all extremities, the severity of the injury has sidelined him for the upcoming season.

In a statement, Browns general manager Andrew Berry emphasized the team's support: "Jeremiah's health is of the utmost importance to us, and although he has made progress towards recovery, we've made the decision to place him on Reserve/PUP, which means he will not play football during the 2025 season.".

Owusu-Koramoah, 25, was drafted by the Browns in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft and earned a Pro Bowl selection in 2023. He signed a three-year extension worth $39 million in August 2024. In his statement to fans, Owusu-Koramoah expressed gratitude.

In response to Owusu-Koramoah's message, I penned an open letter:

"Dear Jeremiah Ernest Owusu-Koramoah Yaw, aka JOK,

I am writing this in response to your "letter" to us fans.

First, THANK YOU for acknowledging that WE would be worried, concerned, and even some of us fearful for your well being and recovery. You didn't have to say anything to anybody. You don't owe anyone any answers, but you knew that we care about you enough, you wanted to give us some kind of comfort in knowing that you are doing well and focusing on YOU. We aren't owed that, we aren't owed anything, but you were kind enough to open yourself up to us.

Second, You need to focus on You! I've had herniated discs before (DISCLAIMER* not saying that's what's going on here, but I know neck pain) and neck pain is no fun, it's no joke and can affect your future.

Third and Final point, IF you never play again, THAT'S OK! Will we miss seeing your explosiveness on the field? Will we miss your leadership on and off the field? Will we miss your amazing gameday outfits? OF COURSE!!!! But YOU are the most important part of all of this and if none of this occurs ever again, that's ok. I can see you in a leadership/ coaching position if you aren't playing, but whatever it is you do, I hope it's what's best for YOU and YOU only because YOU are the only one in this equation that matters.

In the end, you've shown Browns fans your heart and we all love you for it and wish you nothing but the best in your career and life. Take care of yourself and we all hope to be seeing you soon, one way or another

Sincerely,

A HUGE BROWNS FAN

Kristy Acuti"

The Browns organization and fans alike continue to support Owusu-Koramoah as he focuses on his recovery and future endeavors.
