ERIE, Pennsylvania — Our waterpark tour took us to Erie, Pennsylvania, for a visit to Splash Lagoon and it did not disappoint. As someone traveling with a family of all ages, I was especially impressed by how much this indoor waterpark had to offer for everyone, from toddlers to teens and even adults just looking to unwind.
The park is packed with attractions. With nine different water slides, a lazy river, a massive Tiki Tree House, and a basketball pool, there is no shortage of action. The Tiki Tree House is one of the park’s signature features, complete with splash toys, multiple body slides, and a giant dump bucket that sends water cascading down over the play area. Right next to it, the Kids Treehouse and Monkey Shines Island provide a perfect space for children five and under to explore safely, with smaller slides and interactive water features.
One of my favorite additions was the Froggy Splash Pad, a new zero-depth splash zone with sprinklers and water jets that is ideal for families with younger children. After chasing the kids around, I appreciated the chance to unwind on the lazy river, floating gently around the park in a tube.
For thrill-seekers, Splash Lagoon does not hold back. The Hurricane Hole is a high-speed body slide that drops you into a spinning bowl of waterfalls, while Cyclone sends you down a closed tube that opens into a whirlpool-style bowl. Both were family favorites. The tube slides, which accommodate single or double riders, added a fun variety to the experience, with each one offering a unique twist or surprise.
When it came time to catch some waves, we had two solid options. The wave pool gave us a chance to swim through rolling waves with the whole family, while the FlowRider offered the chance to surf. I was brave enough to try it but it is definitely one for the more adventurous. It was a lot of fun, though, even to watch others try to master the surf.
Beyond the water attractions, Splash Lagoon also has dry activities available for an extra fee. The on-site arcade was a hit, and we also enjoyed the rope course and duckpin bowling located inside Quaker Steak and Lube.
We stayed on-site during our visit, which made everything even easier. The rooms were clean, spacious, and breakfast was included. Dining options were convenient both inside the park and within a short drive from the property.
While in Erie, we took the chance to explore more of what the area has to offer for families. Scallywags Pirate Adventure stood out as a must-do. It is an interactive boat ride where families work together to hunt for treasure. Be warned, there is a splash zone, and yes, we got soaked. But it was a blast, and the kids are still talking about it.
We also visited Waldameer, Erie’s local amusement park. It has free parking and admission, with wristbands available for rides and water attractions. The park had a nostalgic charm and some unique rides you will not find elsewhere. The water log ride was our family favorite, and I definitely recommend grabbing their signature cookies before heading out.
Our final stop was the Erie Zoo. It is smaller than some major city zoos, but it is easy to navigate and full of surprises. The train ride was a fun bonus, giving us a different view of the exhibits and offering up some great animal facts along the way.
Overall, Splash Lagoon and Erie as a whole offered a great mix of waterpark thrills, family-friendly attractions, and relaxing moments. It was the kind of trip where everyone found something to love, and we left with memories that will stick with us long after the bathing suits are packed away. If you are looking for a family getaway that combines fun, convenience, and variety, I highly recommend checking it out.
