CLEVELAND, OH — Matt Greminger, founder and President of Cleveland 13 News (WCTU), announced he is stepping down from his leadership position to focus on urgent family matters. The decision follows a legal battle involving the safety and stability of his children, a situation Greminger described in his widely circulated op-ed, Cleveland Father Ignored by the System, Abandoned by the Court, Fighting Anyway and Needs Help.
In a Facebook post addressing the Cleveland 13 News community, Greminger reflected on the difficult choice, stating, "Due to recent events (which many of you are already aware of) I have had to make one of the toughest decisions I’ve ever had to make. As much as I love Cleveland 13 News and everything we have built together, I have been unable to give it the full focus and attention it deserves; and Cleveland 13 is too important to be anything less than at its best." He continued, "We’ve built something incredible. A public news network rooted in trust, balance, fairness, and a true voice for the community. ‘Your Voice, Your News’ isn't just a slogan. It's the heart of everything we've done."
Greminger’s decision comes at a time when he has been outspoken about challenges within the family court system after a protection order safeguarding him and his children was reversed. While only a brief mention of this personal struggle was made in his formal announcement, his previous writings have detailed the urgent circumstances leading to his need to step back.

As he temporarily leaves the President role, Greminger announced that Bonnie Swirsky will assume leadership of Cleveland 13 News. Swirsky, a small business owner and longtime supporter and consultant for Cleveland 13 News, has also been featured in several media productions. A passionate roadster with a love for racing and restoring Datsun and Nissan Z cars, Swirsky was once featured doing just that on Cleve-It To Us with Matt (Gremi). She also brings a strong background in organizational leadership and public service. "Bonnie is a dear friend of mine, someone I have served alongside on nonprofit boards, and someone I trust with my whole heart. She is honorable, capable, and completely dedicated to the mission we started," Greminger wrote. He expressed full confidence that Swirsky would not only maintain the network’s standards but continue its growth.
Although stepping down from day-to-day operations, Greminger assured the community that he is not saying goodbye. He plans to remain involved by reporting on stories important to the Northeast Ohio community and continuing to produce occasional segments of his popular series Cleve-It To Us. Greminger stated he intends to return to his role once he can again dedicate the necessary time and energy to the network’s mission.
"I am still finding the joy and happiness in each day, surrounded by my family, my children, and my dearest friends as I navigate this next chapter," Greminger wrote. "I appreciate you more than I can ever say. Thank you for believing in me; and in Cleveland 13 News."
